Lucent privacy policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Lucent is a day planner for Android made by AvenzaSoft UG (haftungsbeschränkt) in Wedel, Germany. This policy describes what the app does with your information, and is written to be checkable against the app itself.
- Your plan stays on your phone. Blocks, routines, schedule, what you ticked off and your settings are stored on the device. We have no server that receives them.
- No account, no ads, no analytics, no crash reporting and no tracking.
- When the app starts, it asks Google Firebase whether an update is required. That request carries a random code for this installation and nothing about you or your plan.
- If you turn on Google Drive backup, a copy of your plan is saved in a hidden folder in your own Google Drive. We cannot read it.
What stays on your device
Everything you put into Lucent: your blocks, routines, the schedule they produce, which blocks you have completed, and your settings. It is kept in the app's private storage on your phone. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
What leaves your device, and when
The update check. Each time Lucent starts or comes back to the foreground, it reads one value from Google Firebase Remote Config: the oldest version of the app that may still be used, so the app can tell you when an update is required. To answer, Firebase uses a Firebase installation ID — a random identifier created for this installation of the app — along with the technical data any internet request carries, such as your IP address and the app version. It contains nothing you entered into Lucent. We do not receive it, and it is not used for advertising, analytics or profiling.
Google Drive backup — only if you turn it on. When you connect Google Drive in Settings, you sign in with your Google account in Google's own sign-in screen. Google then gives Lucent your email address and name, which the app shows on your phone so you can see which account is connected; they are not sent anywhere else. Lucent asks only for access to its own hidden app-data folder in your Drive — it cannot see any of your other files — and saves a copy of your plan there. That copy goes from your phone straight to your Google account; it never passes through a server of ours.
Backup files you save or share. If you use “Save a copy” or “Send to another app”, the backup file goes exactly where you send it and nowhere else.
Android device backup. If Android's own backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include Lucent's data in it, stored in your Google account under Google's terms. You control this in your phone's settings.
Permissions the app asks for
- Notifications — to show the current block in an ongoing notification, only if you turn it on.
- Internet — for the update check and, if you use it, the Drive backup.
- Run at startup — so the home-screen widget shows the right block after the phone restarts.
- Storage, on Android 9 and older only — to save a backup file to Downloads when you ask.
Why we are allowed to process any of it
- The update check is based on our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in making sure outdated versions, which may contain errors that damage your data, are not kept in use.
- The Drive backup is carried out because you asked for it (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). You can disconnect it at any time.
Who else receives anything
- Google (Firebase Remote Config) — the installation ID and request data described above, as our processor under the Firebase data processing terms.
- Google (Sign-In and Drive) — your backup, only if you turn the Drive backup on. It is stored in your own Google account, under your own agreement with Google.
Nobody else. We do not sell or share data with anyone.
Outside Europe. Google's infrastructure is not confined to the EEA, so this data may be processed outside it. Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and where a transfer falls outside that certification Google's terms rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long it is kept
Your plan stays on your phone until you delete it or uninstall the app. A Drive backup stays in your Drive until you delete it. Firebase installation data is kept by Google under its Firebase retention rules; we hold none of it ourselves.
Your choices
- Delete everything on the phone — uninstall Lucent, or clear its storage in Android Settings.
- Stop the Drive backup — Settings in Lucent, then Disconnect. This leaves backups already in Drive where they are.
- Delete the Drive backup — in Google Drive on the web: Settings → Manage apps → Lucent → Delete hidden app data.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or the UK, the GDPR gives you the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because we hold nothing that identifies you, there is usually nothing on our side to hand over or delete — but email us and we will answer every request.
You can also complain to a data protection supervisory authority — in Germany, the authority for the state we are established in (Schleswig-Holstein); elsewhere in the EU, the one where you live.
Children
Lucent is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new date at the top.
